From announced to operational
Indonesia has committed to an enormous amount of AI infrastructure. Most of it does not exist yet. AI InfraNext exists for the two years in which that gets decided.
A summit about the layer underneath
AI InfraNext | Indonesia 2026 is a two-day executive summit on the infrastructure layer beneath enterprise AI. It is the inaugural edition of AI InfraNext, a platform launched by Trescon and intended to extend to further markets.
Capacity on this scale is not decided once. It is decided continuously, across land, power, capital, compute, architecture and regulation, by a relatively small group of people. AI InfraNext convenes that group: the enterprises putting AI into production, the operators and providers building the capacity to run it, the government shaping the framework around it, and the capital financing all of it.
Infrastructure is now the constraint, not the ambition
As enterprises move from experimentation to production, infrastructure becomes the binding constraint on AI deployment. Production AI requires accelerated compute, AI-ready facilities, networking, storage, power, cooling, security and operating models capable of running workloads reliably and economically.
This has elevated a distinct set of decision-makers: heads of infrastructure and cloud, AI and platform leaders, enterprise architects, CISOs, data centre operators, power and network leaders, and infrastructure investors. These roles are underrepresented at general AI transformation events, even though they determine whether AI can operate at production scale at all.
Why Indonesia, why now
Four forces are moving in parallel: data centre expansion, AI compute investment, power and connectivity build-out, and a developing AI governance framework. Together they create a market in which infrastructure, policy and investment decisions are being made at the same time.
Capacity is moving from pipeline to construction
Indonesia operates around 274MW of data centre capacity across 185 facilities (Komdigi, May 2026). Jakarta's development pipeline alone reached 1,699MW in the first half of 2026, including 395MW under construction (Cushman & Wakefield, August 2026). The pipeline in a single city is several times the total operational capacity recorded nationally.
Batam is emerging as a secondary hub, with an estimated pipeline of over 400MW (planned), sub-five-millisecond latency to Singapore and more than 15 operational and planned submarine cables (BMI, April 2026).
A significant share of future capacity remains planned or under development, which leaves decisions on power, cooling, connectivity, tenancy, security and financing active.
Capital is moving in
Specialised AI cloud capacity, hyperscale campus development, accelerated computing partnerships and infrastructure investment are all advancing in the Indonesian market, including a global AI cloud provider selecting Indonesia for its first Asia-Pacific data centre presence. Construction costs run at approximately USD 8–9 million per MW, below Singapore and Malaysia.
Policy is moving towards formalisation
Two draft Presidential Regulations covering the national AI roadmap and AI ethics and safety have progressed through cross-ministerial discussion. Both remain drafts until formally signed. Sector-specific implementing measures are expected to follow. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) issued AI governance guidance for Indonesian banking in April 2025, covering the full AI lifecycle.
Data control is becoming a procurement question
Indonesia's data protection, banking and electronic systems rules make data control, jurisdiction and workload placement architectural decisions, particularly in government and regulated sectors. In one 2026 survey, 79% of Indonesian respondents cited cybersecurity and data control as the main drivers for moving towards sovereign cloud (EY Indonesia, April 2026).
Most of the infrastructure that will run Indonesian AI has not been built yet. That gap is where architecture, procurement, partnership and financing decisions remain in motion, and it is the reason for convening AI InfraNext now.
